If there’s one thing you don’t expect from design professionals, it’s rough edges. But at Pecha Kucha, the clean sheen of a finished product gets pushed aside for a showcase of creative process. Featuring presentations from 10 to 14 members of the field (people like architectural book publisher William Stout) at each event, the gatherings are typically held every third Wednesday of the month at 330 Ritch. Organizer Paul Jamtgaard and product designer Alberto Villarreal imported the series to SF in January 2006, after attending a Pecha Kucha in Tokyo. As Jamtgaard puts it, it’s “karaoke for designers.”
