Cocktails on the Fly

I feel remiss, as I don’t know that I’ve done anything yet to promote one of the Web’s most engaging cocktail resources and one of the most creative and talented bartenders I’ve ever met.

If you haven’t yet seen it, I urge you to visit Cocktails on the Fly, the ongoing set of cocktail tutorials featuring the incandescent Alberta Straub. Alberta is a local cocktail celebrity and certainly one of the most visible and influential bartenders in SF over the last five or so years. Before she left her pulpit at the Orbit Room (many people still don’t realize that she’s gone—I get asked all the time if she’s still there), she influenced many with her witty, seasonal, utterly original and always delicious concoctions. In fact, it was my regular visits to Alberta through the early years of this decade that showed me what a cocktail could be.

With Cocktails on the Fly, Alberta’s created dozens of great internet tutorials, and I highly recommend them to anyone who wants to become a better mixer or is seeking enhanced cocktail knowledge.
