Thai One On

SF's new Thai spots are adding style to the mix.

Think Siam for your next chic meal: SF’s new Thai spots are moving away from the old white-tablecloths-and-pink-walls look. Osha Thai is taking its formula for top-notch curries with a side of style to a fourth outpost in the Embarcadero Center. Matt Kirchstein of Butter brings his own SoMa sensibility to the Marina with his first restaurant venture, Kwanjai Thai. And the Inner Richmond’s Be My Guest Thai Bistro has a fresh white-on-white color scheme, killer ginger-spiked lemonade and artfully plated dishes. The Mango Tango prawns with asparagus and cherry tomatoes (pictured here)—and even a brunch menu with omelets and the like—make pad Thai seem like a most uninspired choice.
