SCENE: Though the name of this place might evoke a Polynesian lounge, this restaurant is actually a sleek destination for inspired, upscale “Thai beach cuisine,” complete with an elegant oyster bar, hanging silk lanterns and die-cut walls that resemble tree branches.
EATS: The majority of the menu here is composed of dishes that make inspired use of classic Thai flavors and ingredients. The lamb, for example, is served with Thai long beans and a tamarind sauce, and oysters come with six sauces, a Sriracha sorbet and Kaffir lime granita among them. In addition to the sea and land mains, there’s a section of the menu devoted to Thai street food, where you’ll find excellent versions of stalwart take-out classics, including curries, pad thai and superior stir-fried green beans with a garlic chili sauce. For a sweet finish, try the Singha beer ice cream with fried banana and pineapple-ginger caramel.
