SCENE: Turkish food gets a makeover at this West Portal favorite that’s popular with young and old alike. The celadon walls, amber lighting and artfully presented dishes make dinner here a sophisticated affair, yet still fun and casual.

EATS: Save some of the warm flatbread that comes right to the table to have with the combination meze platter, which includes a smoky baba ghanoush and a spicy-garlicky ezme (tomato salad). The outstanding beyti kebab is served like sushi: Tender bits of sirloin are wrapped in lavash, and cut into rolls that are drizzled with tomato sauce and served around a pool of yogurt.
