2008 & 2007 EAT + DRINK AWARDS: Best Desserts
SCENE: Chef-owner Elizabeth Falkner’s beloved pre- and post-theater spot is decidedly industrial-chic, but thanks to a recent renovation, the space has a warmer vibe and an additional 20 seats in the dining room. The bar now resides where the gleaming pastry cases once were, and there’s a cafe in the adjacent space that formerly housed the pastry kitchen.
EATS: Though this is the no-brainer spot in town for cakes, cookies and Falkner’s elaborate composed desserts, it would be a shame to miss the fine, fresh California cuisine, such as Sonoma’s Liberty duck with lentils or Eel River grass-fed steak with mushroom ice cream. Weekend brunch brings in the crowds, eager to chow down on whimsically named dishes such as “Kaiser roll housing fried egg, bacon, avocado, gruyere, mayo sandwich goodness.”
