SCENE: A pretheater crowd gathers here to sup and sip bubbly, framed by hanging velvets, a tasteful sparkling overhead dome and a curving staircase that leads to the second-story dining room.

EATS: Iron Chef winner Traci Des Jardins has been at the helm of this SF favorite for a decade, and it's only gotten better with age. Duck confit with pixie tangerines and Medjool dates is a classic. The rack of lamb served with crepinette and chèvre potato gratin will take the chill off a foggy night.
