2008 & 2007 EAT + DRINK AWARDS: Best Pizza
SCENE: The myth that authentic Chicago-style pizza has to be made with water from Lake Michigan has been—dare we say—busted. Deep-dish fans congregate at this low-lit, boisterous spot for both the killer pizza and the killer jukebox.
EATS: Little Star’s cornmeal crust is downright delicious. It’s hearty enough to withstand the weight of the “classic”: a serious combination of tangy, chunky tomato sauce, savory Italian sausage, bell peppers, mushrooms, onions and mozzarella. Add the walnut-and-Gorgonzola-topped mixed salad, and you’ve got dinner—and maybe leftovers.
