THE NEAR EAST Having learned a few things from consulting at some of the country’s finest spas (Bacara and Canyon Ranch, to name just two), John and Ginny Lopis have realized their vision of the ultimate destination spa. Open since June, The Lodge at Woodloch is set on 75 acres in Pennsylvania’s Lake Region and features pristine forests, a private lake and a 40,000-square-foot treatment facility—all just a couple of hours from New York City. thelodgeatwoodloch.com |

SOUTH PACIFIC Last summer, St. Regis Resort Bora Bora brought all the brand’s familiar luxuries to French Polynesia for the first time. The resort’s villas—which are on the beach or suspended on piers over the water—feature Yellow Willow and marble surfaces, private pools, Pratesi linens, plasma TVs and high-speed Internet access. Guests cross a footbridge to reach the Miri Miri Spa, where a glass of Champagne awaits—along with a Polynesian-inspired spa menu that includes An Illuminating Pearl Treatment. stregis.com |

DOING THE MAYAN RIVIERA The Kor Hotel Group—headed by Los Angeles developer Brad Korzen, who with his wife, Kelly Wearstler, has turned a Boutique hotel Experience into a lifestyle brand—recently purchased Mexico’s Ikal del Mar. The intimate five-star eco-sensitive Resort just outside playa del carmen now offers 29 private villas centered around a circular spa, with offerings ranging from a Mayan temazcal sweat lodge to daily yoga classes overlooking a seven-mile stretch of beach. ikaldelmar.com |

LIVE AT RED ROCKS Last winter, Utah’s Red Mountain Spa completed a redesign and opened Sagestone, adding a touch of luxury to its outdoor adventure and wellness programs. The contemporary spa offers a menu of 70 treatments inspired by the mud, clay and aromas of the Mojave Desert. Guests can walk the lava-bed labyrinth or hike the surrounding red rock cliffs before heading to the spa, which is housed in a three-story geodesic dome. redmountainspa.com |
