Capsule Design Festival

It’s already October, which means I’m on the prowl for one-of-a-kind holiday gifts for friends and family. The free, biennial Capsule Design Festival on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Hayes Valley is a great place to find locally made fashion and design items. More than 140 Bay Area vendors will set up shop around Octavia and Hayes. If you’re in the market for, say, the perfect vintage-fabric onesie for your newborn niece, there’s Lali Clothing by Heather Williams, who creates retro-pieces out of her Mission District Home. Or for your eco-crazy best friend, pick up one of Turk + Taylor’s hand-dyed organic cotton t-shirts. Grab a latte, take in some live music in Hayes Valley Park and get shopping!
